What: Sculpting Lineages: Women Across Generations
Where: Gallery Espace, New Friends Colony, New Delhi
When: August 22 – September 26, 2026

Gallery Espace presents Sculpting Lineages: Women Across Generations, curated by Nainvi Vora, tracing nearly seven decades of Indian sculpture through the practices of Ira Choudhuri, Latika Katt, Shambhavi, Sojwal Samant, Radhika Agarwala and Poojan Gupta. The exhibition proposes an alternative genealogy of Indian sculpture, foregrounding women as central participants in its evolution rather than exceptions to a predominantly male history. Across generations, sculptural practice expands from ceramic and bronze forms to assemblage, installation and material experimentation. Yet persistent concerns around the body, materiality and memory continue to connect these diverse practices. From Katt’s bronze portraiture and Shambhavi’s monumentalised everyday objects to Agarwala’s ecological forms and Gupta’s transformation of pharmaceutical waste, the exhibition reveals how women artists have continually expanded the vocabulary of Indian sculpture.
